Olive Sun Villa is set in the heart of a 4,500 square meter olive grove, near the sea. The project involves the renovation of a preexisting building and the addition of a new wing, transforming the structure into a six-room vacation house. The use of off-white and earthy tones throughout the interior and exterior fosters a serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxation.
The design of this villa aims to create spaces that encourage both social interaction and privacy. The living areas are concentrated in the newly built ground floor, while the six bedrooms, each with a private bathroom and unique design, are situated in the renovated two-story building. Despite their individual designs, the bedrooms are harmoniously integrated into the overall interior aesthetic of the complex.
The building’s longer elevations are oriented north-south to optimize bioclimatic benefits. The north elevation features long, narrow openings to minimize heat gain, while the south side has large openings to connect the residence with the olive grove environment. A 25-meter-long pool runs along the south side, designed so that the water exhaust contributes to the natural cooling of the building.
To enhance outdoor living, the design includes pergolas and semi-outdoor spaces that provide shade from the strong summer sun, allowing visitors to enjoy the outdoors throughout the day. The two building volumes are connected by a pergola, creating a courtyard that seamlessly integrates social and private areas. This courtyard offers unobstructed views of the pool, the olive grove, and the surrounding hills.
The use of traditional island materials—white volumes, stone, and wood—ensures a cohesive and unified character for the complex. “Slices” of corten steel are employed to accentuate the long narrow openings and frame the views, bridging traditional architecture with modern living.
Olive Sun Villa embodies the harmonious integration of traditional and modern design elements, providing a luxurious yet tranquil retreat in a picturesque olive grove. With its thoughtful orientation, bioclimatic features, and emphasis on both social and private spaces, the villa offers an ideal environment for relaxation and connection with nature, family, and friends.
