The hotel is located in Ammoudara, just outside the city center of Heraklion. This project concerns the renovation of the existing hotel Armonia and its extension in order to create a modern resort of high standards, Enorme Lifestyle Beach 5 *. Our greatest challenge was transforming the existing urban hotel into a Mediterranean summer resort, where the visitor can experience the simplicity of island architecture. The main design tool was the water element: the hotel rooms are mainly oriented towards the pool. The visitor has direct visual contact with the sea and can enjoy the sun from the wooden sunbeds or from the built-in seats that are partially submerged in the pool.
In the swim-up rooms privacy is ensured by wooden partitions with reed filling, while the pergola offers protection from the strong summer sun. In the rooms interiors an earthy color palette was used. Natural materials such as rope and rattan are selected. To create a timeless style, the earth tones chosen are enriched by decorative elements of more vibrant colors such as pillows and “pop art” paintings.
