Villas
Cave villas south Crete
Tzanaki Eleutheria
The proposal concerns a holiday residence embedded in a steep sandy slope of the southern Cretan landscape -a wild, windswept place where the light is harsh and the land has been eroded by time and salt.
The composition unfolds across four levels with successive broken lines that engage with the geometry of the terrain, creating distinct spatial qualities. The application of bioclimatic principles and strategies for solar protection and natural cooling was crucial in the development of the design. The building utilizes natural cross-ventilation through courtyards, while deep recesses provide shading and protection from strong winds.
The project is harmoniously integrated into the landscape, acting as a filter for the view, the light, and the experience of the place , while simultaneously creating a strong contrast with the natural environment, maintaining a dynamic yet sensitive balance
